Immigration in Arizona
Being a citizen in the United States of America gives you the right of Freedom, a pursuit of happiness and Rights. Even though Some may have this privilege, not all are privileged with these rights. As immigration rates grow higher, do these pre- Americans have the same Freedoms as full Americans? But really who is considered legal in Arizona?
The SB 1070 Act of 2010
Introduced in 2020 as a Arizona senate bill, the sb 1070 act of 2010 was broadcast of anti-immigration act passed by Governor Jan Brewer. SB 1070 consistent federal law regulation immigration, protecting the civil rights of all people and respecting the privileges and immunities of United States citizens. Meaning that if someone was pulled over, the law officer can determine with the “citizens” document if he or she was legally. Various civil right movements call this law racial bias against immigrants. In my opinion, a person's “freedom” shouldn't be taken away for a speeding ticket. Federal government challenged the law in 2012 in the Supreme court called Arizona v. United States. The Court said that an officer can arrest anyone they believe has committed a crime and whom they think is in the country illegally, and hold the individual until their immigration status can be checked with federal officials.
2B leads into itself as a rampant racial profiling against Latinos, Asian-Americans, and others presumed to be illegal immigrants solely based on their appearances.
In September 2016, 6 years after section 2B 1070 Arizona settled an end to this practice and the National Immigration Law Center and right groups helped to stop this practice. Even though the 2B is not in practice we still have rampant racial profiling in border states such as Arizona. Its rights and freedom to change the laws that seem to extreme like 2B 1070 and live to love are neighbors.
Protection of Immigrants
The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) was enacted in 1952 to collect many provisions and reorganize the structure of Immigration Law. The INA has been amended many times over the years and contains many of the most important provisions of immigration Law.
The government has the power to deny legal rights and can deny rights at any risk. This can be dangerous to people who want to be citizens. The ACLU has protected the rights and liberties of immigrants for more than 25 years. ACLU is dedicated to expanding and enforcing the civil liberties and civil rights of immigrants and to combating public and private discrimination against them. But the US has always and still discriminated against colored people and Indigenous people of color from racist politics, practices, and attitudes towards these people. Systemic Equality is a racial Justice agenda the ACLU seeks to address. Its efforts are to find legal strategies to strike down laws and practices that exude, harm, and a significant investment and dedicated resources and politics in the south. Because everyone in this land is equal to the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to assemble, and the freedom to petition the government. But without these freedoms the immigrants can't change the way of this Democracy.
